February 2025 - The Ones that Made the Cut (and the ones that didn't)

Last month, I kicked off this little retrospective by sharing January 2025’s Pictures of the Day, along with a handful of near-misses — photos I really liked but ultimately didn’t get the nod as the image for that particular day. Think of them as honorable mentions, or the photos that lost a close race.


This month, I’m continuing the look back, moving into February. By then, the rhythm of the project was fully ingrained. I was seeing more quickly, hesitating less, and trusting my instincts a bit more — even when the light was lousy, the streets were quiet, or the day didn’t feel especially photogenic. Some images worked immediately; others only revealed themselves after a second (or third) look.


Taken together, these photos feel like a conversation with the city in midwinter — muted light, longer shadows, small gestures, odd moments of beauty hiding in plain sight. Some were obvious keepers. Others surprised me.


So here they are: February 2025’s Pictures of the Day, plus a few close contenders that very nearly stole the crown.
