The light in this city is amazing.

Last week, I was in Arequipa, Peru, volunteering with Mission Rabies as part of the country's first large-scale canine rabies vaccination campaign. If you've been following my recent posts, you've already seen plenty of photographs from our days in the field—dogs, volunteers, and the work itself.
But whenever I had a little free time, I wandered the streets with my camera. Those images make up the bulk of this week's The Restless Lens.
The light in Arequipa was extraordinary, and I found myself gravitating toward rich black-and-whites, the wonderful faces in the sprawling central market, and the quiet moments of everyday life that so often become my favorite travel photographs. While these images were made during the same trip, they're less about the campaign and more about the city itself.
Next week, The Restless Lens returns to New York. The week after that, I'll be wandering the streets of Amsterdam once again. Until then, I hope you enjoy this glimpse of Arequipa through my lens.
