Restless Lens Weekly: Week 5 (Jan 29th - Feb 4th)

When life gives you lemonade... take one-handed photos.

Week 5 of Restless Lens Weekly, and we’ve entered a new phase. This was my first full week shooting one-handed, courtesy of a right arm that’s still very much in recovery mode after rotator cuff surgery. The mechanics turned out to be easier than expected: a thumb swipe to open the camera, the volume button as a shutter release, and voilà. Functional enough.

The bigger challenge has been everything around the photography. Cold weather. Gloves. And the challenging puzzle of how to put on a winter coat while wearing a sling, a problem Apple has not yet addressed.

Not surprisingly, the number of photos is modest this week, and that's okay; the point of this project was never volume. It's all about doing something interesting while having a few constraints. And, if I can't go outside, for whatever reason, there's always Glitter, my favorite photographic subject.
