Restless Lens - Week 28 (July 8 - 14): Still enjoying Arequipa.

I'm still in Arequipa, Peru, spending a few days exploring before the Mission Rabies vaccination campaign begins.

Photographically, it's been one of those rare stretches where almost every time I walk out the door, something catches my eye. In fact, there were so many photographs from my first few days here that my previous blog post, covering my arrival and first impressions, ended up with dozens of images. Somehow, the last two days have produced just as many.
As always, I'm trying to do two things at once. Part of me wants to document Peruvian life as honestly as I can: the markets, the streets, the architecture, and the people who make this city so fascinating. The other part of me can't resist chasing beautiful light, striking shadows, unusual compositions, and those little moments that transform an ordinary scene into something more artistic. It's the light that has me captivated. I've never been somewhere where the shadows and contrasts are so striking.
The result is a collection that wanders back and forth between documentary and street photography, realism and interpretation. It's a mix that feels very much at home in The Restless Lens.
In a day or two, the focus shifts. My iPhone (and the volunteers) will head into neighborhoods across Arequipa as the rabies vaccination project begins. Those photographs will tell a different story.
But for now, I'm simply enjoying getting lost in a remarkable city. Have a peek at what I've seen so far:
